It was a lot easier to cut into this wood than I thought, the wood we used was quite soft, making it easier to make marks. However I did feel like I didn't have complete control of the tool as I made certain cuts as it would cut over parts which I didn't want to indent. My plate came better than I thought however I did mess up one of the letters, as I didn't cut it backwards like the rest. However, I decided to go with this and embrace the mistake. I guess it added to the oddness of the image.
The prints came out better than expected. I decided to go straight in with colours rather than starting with black. I wanted to overlap colours as I had done with previous prints, but they didn't come out as well. The colours just ended up blending together, although that did look just as effective.
I think I'm definitely going to explore this type of printing further, perhaps even go into etching and possibly even lino cut.
