I also decided to print on top of magazine photographs using this new woodcut design. I specifically decided to choose images which would relate to the saying or create this other meaning and interpretation. I decided to use images of women which to me made them look vulnerable and depressed. I really like how the print merges in with the photographs, and how the photographs almost end up becoming part of the print. I think I would like to take this further and perhaps try and collage more photographs together but try and keep it within the size of the woodblock, to fill the negative space. I think I would also like to try printing on top of newspaper images as another reason as to why the magazine photographs work so well is that the photos are glossy, which ends up making the oil based inks look glossy, resulting in this print/photograph combination. I think if I were to try printing on newspaper I would use a varnish and varnish the paper, to try and recreate the effect that the magazine photographs had with the ink.

Confronting the issue of a male dominated art world, and advocating for more diversity within the art world to allow for a more diverse depiction of cultures. Not just focusing within the art world, but also within film and politics, using art as their way of getting their voices heard. They also highlight the problems of a male dominated art market and how they only choose specific artworks to show/buy. Raising the issue of so few female led shows in galleries such as The MET, MoMa and other massive galleries. They also target the racial divide within the art world, and how so few artists of colour get recognised or asked to do shows for certain galleries. Good example of those fighting for...
